Also the Senate Judiciary Committee starts their investigation into Fast and Furious as gun-walking is denied by ATF Special Agent Bill Newell, who was overseeing Fast and Furious.
14: President Obama Publicly States Concern for Gun Trafficking
During an April of 2010 press conference held with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Obama tells the world assault weapons should be banned to prevent gun trafficking to Mexico.
13: The Cartels' Grip Over Arizona
In June, while Pinal County Sheriff Paull Babeu declares frightening news that parts of Arizona are under drug cartel’s control, a concerned gun-dealer sends an email to David Voth (supervisor of Fast and Furious), stating his concerns that guns may be getting into the wrong hands.
12: Brian Terry Killed
Shedding light on the topic is the December 14th, 2010 death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was shot to death 10 miles north of the U.S.-Mexican Border. After his purchases of an estimate 720 firearms, Uriel Patino is arrested in Januray.
11: Jaime Zapata Killed
Once again, tragedy strikes as on February 15th, 2011, Imigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata as killed in a roadside attack in northern Mexico.
10: Obama States He Knew Nothing About Fast and Furious
Mid-March of 2011 had Issa and Grassley requesting documents from the ATF, which we now know, did not comply. Later in the month while in Mexico, Obama denies he or Holder knew anything about Fast and Furious.
9: ATF Subpoened
Not an April Fool’s joke, on April 1st, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issue the first subpoena in the matter to Acting Director Kenneth Melson.
8: Holder's "First Heard" Answer Creates More Questions
In May, Holder tells the House Judiciary Committee he first heard of Fast and Furious "within the past few weeks,” which soon creates more questions as proof soon arises he may not have been completely honest.
7: Scandal Deepens in the Summer of 2011
The summer of 2011 had emails surfacing showing that Fast and Furious was indeed designed to promote gun control. Issa's committee held yet another hearing after still being denied thousands of requested documents from the DOJ. Stories were told of ATF agents who were working in Mexico and not told about Fast and Furious.
6: Holder's Memo's Haunt Him
A smoking gun appears as in October of 2011, memos addressed to Eric Holder regarding Fast and Furious surface, dated nearly a year before he acknowledged knowing about the gun-walking scandal.
5: Gun-Walking Admitted
On November 8th of 2011, Eric Holder admits for the first time to the Senate Judiciary Committee that gun-walking did in-fact occur.
4: Holder: "DOJ not Involved."
In February, Holder testifies before the House Judiciary Committee and denies a Department of Justice cover-up. Also in February, Brian Terry's family drops a bomb by filing a $25M suit against the ATF.
3: Zapata Family Files Claim
Another lawsuit is filed as on June 14th, the Jaime Zapata family files a claim against the Immigration and Customs Enforcements, FBI, ATF and DOJ alleging that AK-47 rifles bought in Texas were used by Zapata’s attackers.
2: Eric Holder Voted In Contempt
Darrell Issa's committee votes to hold Eric Holder in contempt on June 19th. President Obama retaliates by exerting executive privilege maintaining the secrecy of the documents in question.
1: The House and Justice Department Collide
On June 27th, the House voted to hold Holder in contempt of Congress which served to be a moot-move as on the 29th, the Justice Department opted to shield Holder from prosecution.
