15: Simply listening pays off.
There's no better way to attract people than showing them you're good with even the smallest details.
14: Learn to Make Small Talk
You can be exiting a building or even hanging out at the local coffee shop, but whatever the case if you see someone you recognize strike up a conversation with him or her. As awkward as it might feel, you’ll notice just how people can open up from a simple chat and a good attitude. Who knows? You might make someone's day with just a word or two of kindness – a trait that’s hard to find in true friends these days.
13: Join Some Extra Curriculars
Simply put, get in where you fit in. Getting involved let’s people know that you’re out there and making yourself known to other classmates.
12: Ignore Technology For Once
You’d be amazed at who may actually be interested in getting to know you if you’d put your phone down every now and then. We know your constant text messaging and emails aren’t that intriguing, who knows. It’s probably time to get some new contacts anyways.
11: Be Hygienic
It's a no brainer that when stepping into the space of others you should keep clean and show off your pearly whites. No one wants to be around someone who gives off B.O. or has bad breath so keep it neat and precise.
10: Make a Great First Impression
It takes the average person to formulate an opinion about you in less than 60 seconds. Take the initiative to make those seconds count. Don’t be rude and save the sarcasm for later.
9: Keep Private Information to Yourself
Avoid the temptation of sharing personal business to those who have not gained your trust. Although it feels like you two will have a deeper connection, you’re also giving them leverage to ruin your chances of forming relationships with others.
8: Avoid Being Co-dependent
No one likes to be around someone they feel is desperate. Don’t be afraid to keep other friends or hobbies in the mix. You are your own person, and no one deserves the satisfaction of feeling as if your world revolves around them.
7: New Wardrobe
By no means should you change up your look to impress others, but taking something that’s your own and taking it to a new level may be the key to opening people’s eyes just a little wider.
6: Be Friendly
We all know it’s true. People are so much more approachable when they smile. Keep a smile on your face! Don’t ever hesitate the opportunity to do something nice for someone else.
5: Be Inviting
Everyone needs his or her time alone, but try finding the time to breath every once in a while. Meeting people leads to meeting more people. Smile, Invite some people over, you’re only hurting yourself if you stay keeping to yourself.
4: Find People Who Share Common Interests
Nothing makes a friendship stronger than a group of people who enjoy the same hobbies and goals as you do. Linking up with someone with that same energy as you could even help you in the long run.
3: Remember Their Names
Chances are, if you take the time to learn other people’s names they’ll open up and equally do the same for you.
2: Speak Up
Communication is key! Even if that means starting a conversation with a complete stranger, what have you got to lose? The quiet ones are always left in the dust.
1: Be Yourself
Remember, your peers aren’t always trying to be cool with the big guy on campus or the popular crowd. They came to you, which stands out all on its own. Don’t try being someone you’re not.
