15: One Direction Clean House

14: Wiz's Baby Bump
His reveal may not have been as popular as Beyonce's last year, but emerging hip hop artist Wiz Khalifa and his wife Amber Rose made it known on the red carpet that the two are expecting their first child together. His ovation while presenting an award was truly a joyful moment!
13: The Short Tribute To A Beastie Boy
It's hard to say if MTV is actually to blame but instead of taking a bit of time to pay tribute to the late Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, they presented an alternative. Before cutting to commercials, the awards show played 12 seconds of "No Sleep Til' Brooklyn" while showing three images of Yauch himself.
12: Rihanna Takes The Spotlight
Along with admitting she still had feelings for her ex Chris Brown, RiRi's performance of "Cockiness" and "We Found Love" featured snakes, fellow collaborators ASAP Rocky and Calvin Harris and an impromptu quick trip through the audience without security.
11: Stage Dives Everywhere
The night didn't have as many "shocking" moments compared to previous years but one theme seemed to involve interacting more with fans. Host Kevin Hart, Taylor Swift and rapper Lil Wayne were just some of the few that took to stage-diving into the crowd at the VMAs.
10: Miley Cyrus' New Do
The pop star showed off her new haircut in public just before the awards show and while co-presenting with hip hop artist Mac Miller. Who provided the inspiration? We're not exactly positive but we think it might of have been either Pink or Justin Bieber.
9: Frank Ocean Mesmerizes
The rising R&B star didn't receive any awards but his intimate performance of "Thinkin' 'Bout You" made time stand still for just a quick second at the VMAs as his soulful voice took over for a mere three minutes.
8: The Cast Of Twilight (Minus One)
Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and some of the other "Twilight" stars introduced a new "Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part Two" trailer to the audience but there was one noticeable omission. Their co-star, Kristen Stewart, was perceptibly absent.
7: Green Day Get Loud
The biggest surprise of the night came from Green Day who performed their new song "Let Yourself Go" off-stage and just after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's hospitalization just a few days ago. Though they had to cancel shows earlier in the week, the trio looked happy and fierce.
6: Gabby Douglas Hits The Stage
Though it occurred towards the end of the awards show, during Alicia Keys performance of her new song "Girl On Fire", Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas made a grand appearance, dancing and tumbling around the stage to a standing ovation.
5: Nicki Minaj's "Speech"
Luckily for Nicki, her performance was better than her so-called speech as when the artist accepted her award for "Best Female Video", she found herself stuttering and mumbling "Oh my god", "I don't know" and "I can't" numerous times. Her alter-ego Roman was also nowhere to be found.
4: Katy Perry Gets A Smooch
Presenting the award for "Best Pop Video", Katy Perry welcomed the infamous boy band One Direction on stage and greeted the five of them with a kiss. It may or may not have been planned but Katy's idea was brilliant!
3: Pink's High-Wire Act
Taking a note from fellow pop stars (we're looking at you Robyn), Pink's live performance dazzled in every which way possible as she suspended herself in the air on a pair of ruby red lips that also sprayed confetti on other artists like 2 Chainz.
2: The Pop Stars Collide
Unlike last year, almost every famous celebrity seemed to be seated next to each other, including Rihanna and Katy Perry who were constantly caught talking to each other and even "singing".
1: Taylor Swift's Cutaway
It only made sense that Taylor Swift would perform a live version of her new hit single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" but the performance was overshadowed by the perfectly timed cutaway to her ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner who just happened to be seated in the crowd.
